Return of the NVDOS:6th Annual Office of the Dead

As pretty much all who follow us are aware, it has been a rough year or two for the NVDOS. COVID has more or less killed all of our group’s activity (luckily, it did not kill any of us). That combined with personal matters by much of our leadership we have been dormant these two years. I will not bore any of you with the details, but it would suffice to say that; as our group started as an outgrowth of the nightly office recitation at GMU, as many of us graduated, preoccupation with “Post-collegiate affairs” took priority in most of our lives.

We are in a stage of trying to recover from this and will over the next few months be trying to work back into our old routine. Luckily we still have many of our old connections left intact and can begin the process of rebuilding what was lost. Keep an eye out because as we attempt to gain back our momentum, we will have more information coming out on this site.

Now to the issue at hand:The 6th Annual Vespers for the Dead

As is our tradition we are announcing that we will once again be hosting “Vespers for the Dead” at Old St. Mary of the Sorrows Cemetery on November 3rd. We will be at the cemetery at 7pm and will start soon there after. It is our intent to provide Soul Cakes once again to all participants. If you wish to offer assistance or provide something, please feel free to reach out to us.

This event is very important, not simply for it’s spiritual efficacy, but because it has traditionally been the event which kicks off our event calendar each year. We encourage everyone to bring as many people as you can and spread the word. We hope to see you there. Dress Warm!
